Jasper Drake Scholarship
The Erie Community Foundation began administering the Jasper Drake in 1994. According to Mr. Drake's Last Will and Testament, "It is the purpose of this Trust Fund to enable students, graduates of the Union City Area High School, of good habit with normal intelligence to obtain a higher education, technical skills, vocation, college, or other advanced learning, as they would otherwise not be able to do so or could do so only at a sacrifice of health in the struggle to obtain such further education and earn a living at the same time, in order that they may become better citizens of this country in general, and their community in particular, and to better able them to meet their responsibilities and ultimately to provide for themselves and their families a better livelihood."

LaRue Ottaway Scholarship
Amount: Determined Annually
Deadline: April 30
Eligibility:- Awarded to graduating seniors and graduates of Union City High School
- Must be pursuing a degree in the medical field

Donald E. Barteldt Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $500
Deadline: May 1
Eligibility:- Students must be graduating senior in the Union City Area School District, with at least a 3.0 GPA, who are planning to attend college or university.
- Students must apply for the scholarship by writing a one or two page essay on his/her life goals, including educational, career, altruistic, and spiritual. Also include the things in their lives for which they are most grateful.
- The scholarship award will be disbursed directly to the college or university that the recipient is planning to attend.
- A factor to be considered in the judging of the essay will be the student’s need for the scholarship.
- Essays should be delivered to the guidance off on or before May 1st. A cover sheet should indicate the student’s name and address as well as GPA. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE ESSAY.
- The winner will be chosen at random from all essays which meet the essay criteria.

Sidney and Sylvia Carlburg Scholarship
Amount: Determined Annually
Deadline: April 30
Eligibility:- Awarded to graduating seniors of the Union City Area High School
- Must have a G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher
- Participation in athletics and/or extracurricular activities (music, art, FFA, Scouts, etc.)
- Leadership achievement and/or community service

The Neil and Jean Dewey Medical Scholarship
Amount: Determined Annually
Deadline: April 30
Eligibility:- Awarded to graduating seniors of the Union City Area High School
- Must have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher
- Participation in athletics or extracurricular activities (music, art, FFA, Scouts, etc.)
- Participation in community activities
- Must be full-time pursuing a degree in the medical or healthcare field

Raymond and Angela Gocal Memorial Scholarship Fund
Raymond and Angela Gocal – Lifelong Residents of Union City 1916-2006
Amount: $1,000 renewable up to four years. Up to five scholarships available.
Deadline: May 15
Eligibility:- Demonstration of self-initiative and the desire to pursue a career in any STEM field.
- A copy of acceptance letter to a post-secondary four or a two year institution or a two year technical school is required to be submitted with the application.
- Two letters of recommendations from two Union City Area High School teachers or one teacher and one employer.
- Write a brief essay describing how you meet requirement one and how these activities influenced your career choice.

Edward Margie Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Edward Margie, whose impact both helped to mentor and shape the minds of countless Union City students during his tenure as an educator and athletic coach. The scholarship is a reflection of his desire to help young people achieve excellence both on and off the field in their pursuit of their lifelong goals, while conquering life's many obstacles. In memory of Coach Margie's 397 wresting wins the scholarship is in the amount of $1,003.97

Eligibility:- The scholarship is available to a senior who has been accepted in an undergraduate program to further their education and who participated in at least on of the following three sports that were long supported through Coach Margie's dedication:
- Varsity Football; Varsity Wrestling; or Varsity Track & Field
- The senior must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have passed the PA State Driver's License Exam (Guidance Office may ask to see your current driver's license).

Jenine Mineo Memorial Scholarship
Amount: Determined Annually
Deadline: April 15
Eligibility:- Must have graduated from Union City Area High School and be enrolled in an accredited four year institution
- First preference will be given to students enrolled in an accredited choral or music academic program
- Scholarships will be awarded to students based on musical achievement, excellent attendance record and demonstrated commitment to community service

Joanne Homa Patterson Memorial Scholarship
The Union City Senior Center Co-op started a fund to honor Joanne Homa Patterson who passed away in 2015. Joanne had a passion for helping adults find their place in the world. The scholarship was created to help the non-traditional adult student continue their education. Must be a resident of the Union City Area School District and must be 25+ years of age (as of July 1st of the application year. Must be accepted into a certificate program, associate degree program or higher at a college, university or technical school. The award amount will vary each year, with one or two scholarships awarded per year.

Eligibility:- Verification of Residency in Union City Pa School District (example – Drivers License, State ID, Utility bill, rental agreement, property tax receipts, etc)
- If previously enrolled, submit a copy of college transcript or most recent report card showing GPA (Unofficial transcripts or printouts from school’s website are acceptable). If not previously enrolled, a copy of acceptance letter from the school should be included.
- Essay must be at least one page long, and should discuss why receiving the award is important, how it will affect the candidate’s future plans, and in particular how those plans will improve the community of Union City.
- A letter of recommendation from employer if the training is related to your current employment will be requested.

The We Believe in Erie Fund

Eligibility:- The Greater Erie Economic Development Corporation (GEEDC) and the Erie Community Foundation (ECF) have made funds available to local minority youth in Erie County specifically for the purpose of providing services in areas of unmet needs
- Applicants must be a minority, between the ages of 18-25, and resident of Erie County.
- Students pursuing post-secondary education, pre-apprenticeship training, and internships are eligible to apply.
The Rogelio Allanigue Scholarship Fund
Amount: Determined Annually
Deadline: April 30th
Eligibility:- Must be a graduating senior from Union City Area High School and be enrolled in an accredited institution pursuing post secondary vocational or collegiate education.
